Oakridge Beef

At Oakridge, we have a core breeding herd of 12 cows and our bull (Quattro)
Our aim is to grow and supply up to 12 beef cows per year for sale to individuals or syndicates who want to know where their food comes from.
Our calves are all raised by their mothers for six months before being weaned onto pasture. Bull calves are castrated at four months.

It takes approximately two-three years to grow the animals to the desired live kill weight of between 350 – 450kg. Weight gain and fat gain can be affected by climate and the amount of green grass available. During longer hot seasons, the cattle do not eat as much and gain less. This can extend the amount of time to get your cow ready. We never supplement with any grains to speed up this process and instead rely only on nature.

Oakridge Beef is finished for one month on oats and rye.

As a potential customer we invite you to visit Oakridge, meet us, and see the animals for yourself. And taste our beef.

‘Oakridge Stud’ is a registered member of the Australian Lowline Assn. All our animals are  DNA verified Australian Lowlines and are registered in the NAIT system of MPI and ALCA. All our animals are processed by Wholly Cow Farm, Micro Abattoir & Butchery.

REGISTER TO BUY

If you would like to purchase Oakridge Beef, simply register your interest and join the queue. We’ll keep you in the loop and contact you when your cow is ready. We know a whole cow is a bit overwhelming for a single household, but just as syndicates are bought together to purchase a barrel of aging whisky, we see successful syndicates who pitch in and share a cow amongst freezers.  It is a wonderful and cost effective way to enjoy quality beef that you know has had a happy life and been butchered with passion and expertise for a better eating experience.
