OAKRIDGE FARM

We purchased the original 6-acre property on Paparoa Station Road in 2014 with the intention of creating a more relaxed lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the city and a home we would one day retire to.

Our dream was to become as self-sufficient as possible.

We began by planting a substantial home orchard, which now has about 50 heirloom fruit trees and a large vegetable garden. We bought some Wiltshire sheep, Henry the Ram and 6 ewes, followed by our first Australian Lowline Cattle, Don the Bull and 2 cows: Morning Glory & Marvellous. Then the chickens arrived; Caroline, Mary & Adele, named after the fabulous 1970’s singing trio The Yandall sisters.

Lowline – A
Heritage Beef
Cattle Breed

With a pure Aberdeen Angus ancestry, the breed, Australian Lowline, is unique in the cattle world. Having proven their suitability and viability within the commercial beef sector whilst also being ideally suited to the lifestyle farmer, Australian Lowlines are the breed of choice for many! Compact beefy cattle on a moderate frame!

Oakridge Beef

At Oakridge, we have a core breeding herd of 12 cows and our bull (Quattro).

Our aim is to grow and supply up to 12 beef cows per year for sale to individuals or syndicates who want to know where their food comes from.

Our calves are all raised by their mothers for 4 months before being weaned onto pasture.
