Can I order half a cow?

Yes – As long as we have a buyer for the other half!  And you can even form a syndicate with friends or work colleagues and share an animal. This is a popular and cost effective option.

What size freezer do I need?

For a whole animal you will need a 500 litre freezer.

How long will it keep?

Frozen beef will be safe indefinitely however for best quality it should be eaten within 12 months.

Is Oakridge Beef ‘Homekill’ ?

No. It is illegal to sell home kill meat in New Zealand. Oakridge Beef meets all MPI requirements.

Can I visit the farm and see the cows for myself?

Yes, we love meeting our customers and showing them around the farm. Just email Jonny to organise a time.

How much beef will I get and which cuts?

This depends on the weight and condition of the animal, Lowlines can vary from 150-250kg. You’ll get the full nose to tail of the animal including all the usual cuts plus lots of cuts you may never have heard of, like the Hangar Steak which is often referred to as ’The Butchers Cut’.
